It seems as if we live in a culture where the role of masculinity is looked down upon, if not despised. Indeed, the difficulties, challenges, and benefits of masculinity are seriously misunderstood.
As a society, it seems that all we focus on is the glamour of traditional masculinity. But have you ever considered, for example, what men have to deal with knowing that they, as the chief breadwinners of the family, miss out on large portions of their children’s lives? Nobody ever mentions the father rushing home to see his wife and children so they can play or have fun together, the father who desires to be with his family--as it should be.
True masculinity is not what it is painted as. It isn't the Dad out liven' it up in the workplace while the wife stays home and slaves away serving the family.
Masculinity is the father, sitting on the side of the bed, thinking about the family activities he will miss next week, but understanding it is his role and duty to go out into the world and provide for his family.
Masculinity is the fake straight face with slightly watery eyes-- AKA “ just allergies."
Masculinity is when a man feels the stress of the world crashing down upon him, and yet keeps that burden from his family and friends, only telling God of his troubles.
Masculinity is a father who works 60 hours a week to put food on the table and provide a comfortable living for his family.
Masculinity is letting your daughter pick out your tie for Church on Sunday morning.
Masculinity is dressing up for church to show your children the importance of it, and getting right back into your work clothes on Monday to head off to the job.
Masculinity is taking it upon yourself to keep an eye on the Church exits for possible shooters--something that seemed excessive just a few short years ago.
Masculinity is generally putting your life on the line on a day-to-day basis to protect everyone around you (not just your family).
Masculinity is protecting your children from the faithless idols in celebrity culture.
Masculinity is volunteering with a group of brothers to help the community.
Masculinity is showing up at the front door with a bouquet of flowers for your wife.
Masculinity is pushing your daughter on the swing.
Masculinity is yes ma’am or yes sir.
Masculinity is pitching a tent and setting up camp for your kids in the back yard-knowing it's going to mess things up.
Masculinity is “daddy, there’s a bug in my room”.
Masculinity is the whole house waking up bto the smell of a breakfast buffet with scrambled/fried eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, french toast, fruit, and whatever else dad could find.
Masculinity is replacing a $200 part on your vehicle on your own because it saves the family $1000.
Brothers, did I miss anything?
Masculinity, toxic?!
Masculinity sounds pretty freaking awesome to me, give me some more of that.
