MASSIVE Legal Battle on the Way: Musk V. Twitter

- News -

Over the weekend Elon Musk announced his plans to cancel his $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter and make it a "free speech platform" citing concerns over Twitter's apparent misrepresentation of user data.

Twitter has officially sued Elon Musk for breach of contract, and Mr. Musk is expected to counter-sue along the same lines.

According to Mr. Musks Lawyer. Twitter had "breached... multiple terms and provisions in the contract" Musk seeks to overturn, and that they provided "misleading representations of data" on multiple fronts, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

If Mr. Musk was lucky enough to back out of his deal with Twitter, he may still have to pay a $1 billion dollar exit fee, something Mr. Musk is expected to avoid in court.

Mr. Musk's concerns were largely based in Twitter's alleged misrepresentation of how many of its users were bots. Twitter claims that less than %5 of its users are bots, but refuses to disclose their computation process.

Musk has indicated that he believes the number of bot accounts could be closer to %25, a claim that has helped crash Twitter's stock price.
