According to Axios, "The number of Americans who believe in God has dropped to the lowest level in the 78 years Gallup has asked the question, per a poll out Friday."
This comes as mental health in the U.S. is at an all-time low, with approximately 1 in 5 teens saying they regularly struggle with mental health.
According to the report, 81% of U.S. adults say they believe in God. This is down from 87% in 2017.
Belief in God dropped most in young adults and Democrats, according to multiple studies. While the least change in religious belief was found among conservatives and Republicans, with a statistically insignificant 1% drop in belief in God.
This trend comes as polarization has significantly increased among Democrats and Republicans on a range of moral issues.
