Daily Scripture Reading: Romans 15
15 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope...
Daily Teaching & Inspiration:
The apostle paul lays out for us the clear principle of 'love of nieghbor.' Our abligation as Christians to do good to our fellow man, and even serve the weaker among us. Here, the weaker brother--or stranger, both are our nieghbors--may be someone who is spiritually weak, or that weakness may include mental illness, phisicall ailments, etc.
The Christian does good to his nieghbor (his fellow man) because he knows it pleases God. It is right that we want to do good, but if we find ourselves doing :good" to feel good about ourselves or to recieve praise from others, we are likely doing that act of "good" for the wrong reasons.
